  • Hoag Hospital (Newport Beach, CA) – over an approximately ten year period Mr. Stein led technology infrastructure teams on a variety of key projects:
    • Developed campus standards for station cabling (Category 6), IDF sizes/uses and backbone transport.
    • Designed new campus fiber backbone infrastructure that focused on increased reliability and bandwidth for over 25 IDF’s supporting over 1,000,000 square feet of clinical and staff spaces.  Dual homing was achieved by using diverse physical paths.  Worked with AE team for OSHPD approval.  Coordinated AT&T to deliver redundant optical circuits through new service entrances.
    • Designed new campus data center that significantly increased capacity and reliability.  Managed procurement of new phone system and relocation of approximately 300 servers and campus network core that completed over one weekend with minimal downtime and disruption.
    • Designed technology infrastructure for new 320,000 square foot Women’s Pavilion.  Scope of work covered cabling infrastructure, 802.11 wireless, CATV/MATV, Nurse Call, Code Blue, Intercom and Physical Security (CCTV, Access Control, Infant theft).  This facility was designed to house the new campus MDF and perform as a secondary data center.  Presented project as ‘Technology for Hospital of the Future’ at 2010 ASHE conference with architect (Taylor and Associates)

 

  • UCLA Santa Monica Orthopedic Hospital (Santa Monica, CA) – Project Principal and Project Manager for retrofit of this 250,000 square foot hospital.
    • Researched Distributed Antennae System (DAS) for appropriate use cases as applied to SMOH.
    • Developed station and backbone cabling standards in conjunction with several UCLA stakeholder groups
    • Managed design retrofit to support voice, data, CATV, wireless (802.11), Specialized Paging, IDF,s and Telemetry

 

  • Asante Health System (Medford, Oregon) – Project Principal and Project Manager for telephone/UC system replacement project for two-hospital (4000 user system)
    • Performed Technology Needs Assessment including interviewing representatives from every department including application integration, Unified Communications needs, call center (100 agents), call recording, smart console, etc.
    • Assessed IT organization’s ability to support IP Telephony and provided new model and staffing plan.
    • Published formal requirements document, presented to executive management and obtained $3,000,000 budget approval
    • Wrote RFP and managed procurement process

 

  • Hoag Hospital (Irvine, CA) – Project Principal and Project Manager for retrofit of this 250,000 square foot hospital
    • Assessed existing technology infrastructure of former Tennant facility including cabling systems, data center, security systems and wireless
    • Published basis of design and designed upgrade packages/specifications for this multi-phase, multi-prime project
    • Assisted bid process
    • Oversight of implementation
    • Project completed ahead of schedule below budget

 

  • Citrus Valley Health System (Covina, CA) – Project Principal and Project Manager for telephone system replacement project for three-hospital (5000 user system)
    • Led interviews of IT and business unit managers to determine specific functionality including mapping unique call flows and handling
    • Developed high level requirements
    • Presented to Executive management and obtained $3,000,000 budget approval
    • Wrote RFP to procure new system

 

  • Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA) – Project Manager and designer for various hospital initiatives:
    • Led team to assess failure points in data center and identify priorities for improvement
    • Developed budget and roadmap for upgrades
    • Assessed security systems (CCTV and Access control for Data Center)
    • Designed technology infrastructure for new Arcadia Clinic

 

  • Cooper Health System (New Jersey) – Consulting for system migration
    • Led team on defining integration requirements with existing systems (i.e. HIS, RIS, paging, nurse call)

 

  • Betty Ford Clinic (Palm Springs, CA) Project Principal for telephone system replacement
    • Led interviews of IT and business unit managers to determine specific functionality including mapping unique call flows and handling
    • Developed high level requirements
    • Presented alternatives and dependencies to Executive management and obtained budget approval

 

  • State of Wyoming – Led statewide assessment, business case development and governance model for optimizing use of video conferencing and IP transport for entire state government, K-20 distance education and telemedicine
